The aim of the proposed collaboration is to carry out a quantitative analysis to estimate the potential production of sustainable biofuels in Spain based on an assessment of the availability of different feedstocks. To do so, various scenarios are considered, characterized by the different pathways for producing the biofuels.
Furthermore, this production potential is compared with the volumes required to meet the regulatory demand for renewable fuels in the maritime and aviation sectors as set out in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) and the ReFuel EU Aviation and FuelEU Maritime regulations. The aim of this comparison is to determine to what extent, and under what conditions, Spain does or does not have sufficient domestic resources to meet this demand.
